Preface

This paper’s purpose is to guide the reader in setting up and reading out data from a CAEN V785 peak

sensing ADC. It covers the electronics that will be needed and how to set them up. It will show how to

modify the production readout (V8.1), and SpecTcl (V3.1) software skeletons to readout and histogram

data from the adc. Testing for the code is also covered to a limited extent.

This paper assumes that you are

• Somewhat familiar with Linux.

• Have a basic familiarity with the C++ programming language

• Familiar with using an oscilloscope
